Dear Woodlawn Community,
Wow! What an exciting start to a great year in Woodlawn athletics! This fall has been nothing short of fantastic! We are so proud of our fall sports programs and, most of all, we are so excited to support the entire Woodlawn community and campus.
Recapping an Extraordinary Fall in Athletics
The Woodlawn Boosters along with our Woodlawn Community experienced an incredibly successful fall season in athletics: Two teams captured Conference Championship titles, All three varsity fall sports earned State and Conference honors, and we earned individual championship honors at the Conference and State levels. These many accolades rival any large program in our community and outshine any 1A school in our area. Most exciting is the foundation of excellence being installed in our middle school programs. Middle school volleyball, cross country, and soccer all competed at very high levels. Woodlawn athletics is strong and will only get stronger in years to come! Take a look at these accomplishments:
- Boys Varsity Cross Country SPAA Conference Champions, 3rd in State, Individual SPAA Conference Champion, Individual All-State Honor, Two SPAA All-Conference Honors
- Girls Varsity Cross Country Individual State Runner-up, Individual All-State Honor, Two SPAA All-Conference Honors
- Boys Varsity Soccer SPAA Conference Champions, State Quarter Finalist, 3 SPAA All-Conference Honors, one All-State Honor, SPAA Conference Player of the Year (MVP)
- Volleyball 2 SPAA All-Conference Honors
We now turn our attention to winter sports and activities. The Booster Club is proud to support our winter sports programs as we did in the fall with another TAILGATE DAY on November 11th at the Basketball Game vs. Liberty Prep (Boys MS and Varsity Basketball teams along with Swimmers will be recognized). All basketball home games will be a bit different this year with a larger concession area, more concession options, merchandise for sale, and booster activities and promotions going on throughout the home basketball season. We are extremely proud to support our girls and boys swim teams, coached by Chris Krenzer at the Lake Norman YMCA. Most exciting this winter, led by Coach Amadio and Coach Martin, is our girls basketball skills clinics, open to any girl who wants to learn about the fundamentals of basketball. This will be ongoing throughout our winter season and will be the spark that turns our girls basketball program into a winner in the years to come. We also have over 20 runners (new and old) participating in the Woodlawn Running Club for 4th - 8th grade, led by Coach Amadio.
A Look at Other Booster-Related Activities
Booster Club has and will continue to support various activities on campus. With the upcoming Woodlawn Fair, the Booster club members will be on site to help anyway we can to support in the success of this annual tradition. We were pleased to offer up the prizes for the first ever WAC led Trunk and Treat. We supported all of our fall sports in end of the season parties by providing food and coaches gifts! We are in the process of building out the first ever concession trailer that will be donated to the school community before the end of the 2019 year. And most of all, we are proud to do whatever we can to make this the BEST YEAR EVER at Woodlawn for our entire Woodlawn community!
With all this done in our first quarter of the year and so much more to come, we ask that you please sign up to become an inaugural member of the Woodlawn Booster Club if you already haven't done so. Its only $40.00 and as you can see it goes to so many great causes on campus and we do this with great support and spirit for our Woodlawn community and student athletes!
Please don't miss out on all of our upcoming November dates listed to the right!Go 'Blazers!
