2017-18 Highlights

We're so proud of our accomplishments throughout the 2017-18 school year. Congratulations to our faculty, staff, and our students for all of their hard work. You are the reason Woodlawn is Woodlawn.

Model UN Wins Best Delegate at Conference

Woodlawn's very first Model United Nations team comprised of six students competed at Appalachian State this year to learn the inner workings of global relationships and governing bodies. Together they represented Woodlawn on various committees such as the World Health Organization, UNESCO, and the General Assembly.

10th Annual Art Extravaganza

2018 marked the 10th annual messy, fun, and creative Lower School Art Extravaganza! We celebrated this special occasion by letting all middle and upper school students who have participated in the past vote on their favorite projects. Highlights included tie-dying t-shirts, popping paint-filled balloons with darts, and tracing each other to make abstract art. Thanks for leading 10 years of fun, Jackie Wildermuth!

Ninth Ring Breakfast Celebrates Juniors

Each fall we celebrate with our junior class as they prepare to receive their class rings. A full breakfast on the patio around the fire pit precedes the "turning of the rings" ceremony. One twist to the left, is how it goes, to represent good fortune for the future. Classmates join in on the celebration with a now student favorite — the ring pop!

Grandfriends Day Brings in Crowds

Over 100 Grandfriends joined us on campus in the fall to get a taste of a day in the life as a Woodlawn student. We look forward to welcoming Grandfriends back to campus on November 2, 2018!

XC Standout Wins Big at State Meet

Tripp Berini '18 won the NCISAA 1A Boys Cross Country Championship individual title when he demolished the field with a time of 18:15. This marks the third straight year that a Woodlawn runner claimed that prize. Tripp went on to be named the Male Athlete of the Year for NCISSA 1A Cross Country.

The Red Barn transformed into Anatevka, Russia when over 70 middle and upper school students performed Fiddler on the Roof this past year. Upper school students created scenery and costumes in their Set and Costume Design elective and helped make the show authentic and impressive.

Lower School Students Charm in Spring Musical

Over 60 students in grades K-4 had the opportunity to perform The Taming of Katy Lou at the local Armour Street Theater in Davidson this past May. The show was complete with lights, sound, costumes, and scenery. The actors performed the 45-minute show flawlessly and families were truly impressed with the professionalism of our Woodlawn students.

MS XC Girls Win Conference Title

Our middle school girls stunned the field of 5 teams at the conference championship by dominating with a final score of 12 (10 being perfect). Packed in a "sea of green" with 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 7th place finishes, our girls showed the true depth and strength of our team.

Third Graders Start Local Pantry

Third grade students and their families helped create the Cornelius Community Cupboard in the Community Garden as part of their service curriculum. Students and families stocked the cupboard, and then invited fellow community members to “pay it forward” by filling the cupboard with toiletries and household products. Thank you to our students, families, and teachers that helped start the Local Pantry!

Inspired by his love of animals and the first grade service curriculum, Nathan Nunn ‘29 raised $756.31 for the Cornelius Animal Shelter by selling his home-crafted Sculpty Pens. Trailblazers have a heart for service, and we are happy to honor Nathan and his service to animals!
